copy of paysheets is kept, there is little use of copying

"particulars of pay sheets and vouchers into a big book". The

In connection with most of his work revenue is collected and

from the statement attached to his duties it appears that the

average daily number of audit forms made out by this officer is

The number of forms issued for emigration work shows

517 discharges of masters and engineers. The work in the Marine

Dagistrates Court has been greatly reduced. This year up to

August 22nd. there were only 42 cases compared with 303 in 1909

and 325 in 1908. In the Marine Court in 1909 there were only 3

cases. In 1909 there were 29 letters received under the Head

of Commercial Intelligence.

As regards forms H. 115 and others the receipts

should not be sent cut as bills, and afterwards receipted. Bills

should be sent out separately and receipt forms not parted with

until the money has been paid. This remarks refers to other cases in Harbour Department, light dues receipts, etc. Either

the Harbour Master or the Assistant Harbour Master or at least the European Clerk should check that the amomt stated in the

receipt form agrees with the amount stated in the counterfpil or collection book, even if they themselves do not actually sign
